On Saturday, November 22, the GRCS FIRST LEGO LEAGUE (FLL) teams participated in the regional tournament at Grandville High School. In this daylong event, the four teams from GRCS presented their research projects, teamwork activities, and robots to FLL judges. In addition to the judged events, each team took part in a robot competition, putting the robots they had designed, built, and programmed through a variety of tasks and challenges.
There were a total of 47 teams competing in the tournament. The GRCS teams took first and second place for Robot Innovation and Strategy, second place for Project Presentation, and second place overall.
Robot Innovation and Strategy:
1st place Team: Bacon Builders, 2nd place Team: Peanut Butter
Project Presentation: 2nd place: Master Builders
Tournament overall: 2nd Place Team: Peanut Butter
Team Peanut Butter will be advancing to the state tournament, which will be held in Flint, Michigan, on December 13. Last year they placed first overall in the regional tournament and are now headed to the state tournament for the third consecutive year!
